Just heard on the radio about a singer from a little Scottish village;
her name is Sandi Thom.

Just now she is gigging live on the Internet from a basement in
Tooting, London. The gigs are interactive and she plays requests.

Check her out he

My word a singer with a voice. She'll never make it.

Roy.

She's easy on the eye though, so with luck the A&R guy won't
even notice that she can sing.

Good find Don.

Regards,

Glenn.

Excellent.

There are so many talented singers in the UK, especially
good looking females like Sandi Thom. Most of them
make one album and disappear without a trace.

Iain.

I posted the thread to rec.audio.pro as well - not as a cross post,
though. With luck the right person might read it there. I suspect that
given what she is currently doing, she will have the balls to make it
even if it is quite hard.

Yes let's hope so.
"Quite hard" ???? That's putting it mildly, Don.

But launching "new faces" seems to be much more
of an attractiuve proposition for record and management
companies and magazines, than working on the second
third and fourth albums of existing artists.

The public constantly demands something
and someone new, so the "turnover in talent" is high.

Just a couple of weeks ago I was escorting a female
vocalist down the stairs from the studio to a taxi
waiting in the street.

As I opened the taxi door, a woman recognised her,
and said: "I know you. You used to be Jenni Andersson"

Hmm. A has-been at the age of 23.

My daughter's been wandering around singing the 'Punk Rocker' song for a
few weeks.. Now I know where she got it from.
