Were these really *that* good? I remember buying a couple about 10 years ago and trying them in my Naka CR-3e Those of about 10 years ago. Well that sounds like the metal alloy frame and plastic shells. Wonderful heavy duty design but let down by the cheap plastic frame. These are the Mk2 breed with 3 part housing. Made of cobalt I do believe but could be wrong. and not being that impressed given the cost premium over mainstream cassettes I too remember using (and still have) one in my Nak and while being very impressed with the low noise I was not to adhered to the sound but then my gear back then is not what it is now. I personally prefer the "That's" brand of tape but unfortunatly seemed to have vanished in a puff of smoke now :-( Basically I feel Naks are a bit out of calibration for these... well those that dont have *auto cal* and need some service tweaking to make them shine. That aside they have a wonderfully even response with great low end bass. Now at this price even BETTER Value and probably THE only High end Metal tape available right now. Shame to see them all die away! Steve |

There was certainly a lot of metal in them but I think you could be right about the actual shell itself being plastic |
