The Way We Were.....
 

Having just pulled my Dynaco MK III monos (

after a break of a few months, I'm still absolutely amazed* at the sound
quality from an amplifer design which is slowly grinding its way to being 50
years old! (Even when fed by a lowly Debut deck through an EAR834P/L combo
into a pair of CDM1SEs.....)

The question is: When these were first introduced in 1957 (mine, I suspect,
are a bit later than this) they cost $79.95 as a kit or $99.95 assembled -
anybody know how these sums of money compared to the average wage of Joe
Ordinaire, Stateside, at the time? In other words, how long would it have
taken to earn the $20 building fee back then and what would these prices
equate to, at today's rates, to buy them now?

(Also, anyone know when they were finally discontinued?)
