Can I add a headphone socket outlet ?

There will in all probability also be a couple of resistors you need to fit, feeding each of the channels. A couple of hundred ohms is normal. Otherwise there is no reason why this shouldn't work (other than needing to drill a suitable hole, of course!) My mk1 Cyrus 2 has a headphone socket on the 'backplate' under the DC PSX input and next to the tape out sockets - this appears to be connected to the same connector you describe. Oddly enough, it doesn't mute the speakers when used so it's always struck me as a bit pointless! I've never really liked switching headphone jacks on decent amps. The contacts are exposed and don't wipe, so they eventually go pretty noisy and can even lose contact altogether. Far better to put a nice heavy duty switch in the speaker lead near the amp. I'm looking to get one of those - you mean something like order code AV01571 from CPC? How does this unit compare with the QED model? The first ad I saw for this model listed the price as £54.95 inc. VAT & delivery, compared to £23.65 ex. VAT for the one form CPC. TIA. I've never tried any of those units - always just got a big fat double pole switch and put it in a box. The Cyrus II (which I assume is similar in design to your Cyrus I) I had did
have a headphone socket, but on later models it was deleted. I guess Cyrus simply removed the actual socket and wiring. The socket was of limited use anyway as the speakers were not muted when phones were plugged in. John "Paul" wrote in message ...
