Maplin has a phono preamp in this month's special offers catalogue: QM51F at £14.99.
It may be crap but it's almost worth it for the case and psu.

While I have your attention, does anyone know where I can get a Shure VN35MR stylus?
As I can't get a stylus to fit my Linn cartridge I might as well resurrect
the old V15.

I got mine from Mantra Audio. www.mantra-audio.co.uk They do generic
stylii for cartridges, but also Shure originals if you ask for them.

I bought two, in case they became unobtainable later. One of mine is
completely unused, and I could be persuaded to part with it if you can't get
one from Mantra.

Which Linn cartridge is it? If its the old Linn Basik then an
Audiotechnica ATN95e stylus will fit as its Basikly (pun)the same
thing.
