Phew, wot a scorcher (2)....
As I have mentioned in the past, I get a trickle of correspondence from idiots who just don't seem to be able to settle for a stack of 'safe name' gear and 'flavour of the month' speakers. Here's another one in this morning I know will be of interest to one or two he --------------------------------------------------------- Hi Keith, I thought you may care to know my impressions of a completed pair of needle's: Second needle completed followed by a test in the workshop with both pairs driven. The result in the workshop with both pairs operating was startling compared to just the single needle. A completely different sound has emerged. I also performed a basic test of system resonant frequency and measured 125Hz. Glad to note I could not detect any difference in system resonance between either speaker. Keen to try a better environment, I moved the pair up to the house and listened to them properly. Your assumption of improved performance is spot on - bass has filled out and the pair sound REALLY good. My wife can't believe that such a tiny speaker can produce such sweet sound. Looking carefully at the Buschhorn MK2 and noting your comments regarding the expected and resulting performance, using the FE103 this time, I think the Buschhorn will indeed supply "all" the speaker I require. My needle's can then become my workshop speakers. I feel a visit to my local hardware store for a supply of mdf is imminent! I'll let you know in due course of my Buschhorn impressions.... Best regards XXXXX ------------------------------------------------------- Enjoy the weather!! :-) |

(Too damned 'ot for shut windows and valve amps!!) :-) Too much for me. The lady suggested this morning that we should pop down to Hyde Park to watch the nude cycle ride, until I pointed out two problems. 1- far too hot, and 2 - the sort of people who want to take their clothes off in public are always those who should be banned from doing so on sick-making grounds. Mint (home grown of course) tea in the garden for me right now. d -- Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |

Mint (home grown of course) tea in the garden for me right now. Very nice! I'm on the Lemming Tea myself and there's a steam whistle peeping from time to time, probably down by the river (4/500 yards?) and it's too 'ot to wander down to see what it is! I can't believe I'm getting so damn lazy....!! :-( (I bet it's a little steam boat!!) |

Here in England we are quite happy to offer Scotland support in football (as well as the mountains of cash we Londoners send north of the border every year). It really is a pity that this isn't reciprocated - we've never done anything unpleasant to Scotland that merited such poisonous racism as we receive. OK, I know what you posted was tongue in cheek, but you couldn't have said it if there weren't a core of truth at the heart of it. d -- Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |

It really is a pity that this isn't reciprocated - we've never done anything unpleasant to Scotland that merited such poisonous racism as we receive. ??? Are you kidding??? Historical: Invasion and removal of Sovereignty Their James VI came down here to become our James I. They have invaded us repeatedly throughout history. Luckily we won every time. Hardly a matter of fault. Imposition of rule by foreigners (Germans) Bonnie Prince Charlie was an Italian poof. He only liked Scotland because he could get away with wearing a dress there. (OK, I know the kilt is a load of pseudo-cultural ******** invented by Walter Scott). Highland Clearances Not an English Affair - an attempt at making life better for the Highlanders by the Countess of Sutherland. Sadly all went wrong. Taxation without representation They are better represented than we are - witness the West Lothian question. Recent: Taxation without representation See above Poll Tax before anyone else and at higher rates The only fair tax we ever had Toxic waste dumping The beach at Windscale suggests we share the problem. Of course the power from Doonreay was used locally, and most of the scientists at work in nuclear physics were Scots. Germ warfare experiments (Anthrax Island...??) That would be Gruinard. No excuse for that. Nuclear subs/power stations siting To their benefit. Even now it is becoming apparent to the gov. that nuclear power is the cleanest way to go. Pinching their granite I think perhaps they got paid. And of course it is the most radioactive native rock there is, so they were well rid of it. Taking the **** with Oil Revenue promises Local Hero is still one of my favourite films. Ripping up the heather and putting it in car radiator grilles But they are so shiny! And that's just for starters!! Actually, it's not - it's all Swim (a Dundoonian) could come up with at short notice!! :-) Well, we need a better list than that! d -- Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |
