I subscribed to uk.rec.audio for the first time
yesterday, (intending to see if anyone had any old
MC1494L's they wanted to part with), but then saw
that it was mostly replies to the P.A infestation,
so didn't bother.

At one time in sci.electronics.design P.A did have
an acceptable signal:noise ratio, then he drifted
into noise-only, at which point many of us in the
group found it easier to killfile him.

FWIW Although uk.rec.audio does suffer from bursts of 'noise', there is
still scope to chat and for people to ask/answer questions, and to try and
help one another. In that respect it seems much the same as other usenet
groups. So I'd say the advice was the usual: Don't feed the trolls, and
choose who you wish to engage in conversation with. :-)
