Polite Speakers for Men with Hair on their Chests
The indispensible Phil Allison tells us:
******* The Quad ESL57 input transformer has an overall turns ratio of 292:1. The bias voltage on the bass panels is 6.2kV and they require 18 kV volts p-p of audio to reach full output. The bias voltage on the mid/high panel is 1.5 kV and requires 6 kV p-p of audio to reach full output. The Quad ESL63 has a bias voltage of 5.2 kV on the panels and requires 16 kV p-p of audio to reach full output. To achieve this feat: The ESL57 uses a single, modest size, C-core transformer to provide the two levels of audio drive. The ESL63 uses a pair of modest size, C- core transformers to provide the audio drive. ********* These are born-dangerous truth-telling loudspeakers of very great refinement. But behind the engaging smile, it's all high tension! I am proud to own Quad speakers. I have never heard another speaker that gives so much longterm satisfaction. Andrew Jute McCoy exuded: stuff on Quads. Yes, and? You do this to see your pseudonym on the screen? This reminds me of the scene in Alice, where the jurors are writing their names lest they forget them by the end of the trial... It is not certain what Mr. McCoy is, or what it believes its name to be, so a little self-supplied reassurance must be critical to the maintenance of its fantasies. Peter Wieck Wyncote, PA |

Worthless Wiecky whined: stuff on Quads. Yes, and? Jute did not say the words you falsely attribute to him, Worthless. What's your latest plot with Lyin' Bwian? Are you going to abet his conspiracies to rip people off, or are you satisfied with indulging his insatiable desire to slander and calumniate? -- A day without Krooger is like a day without radiation poisoning. |

Hi RATs!
I liked the Quads I heard at my friend's house. They were very nice. I do not recall if he had hair on his chest. I do clearly recall none of his girlfriends had any noticeable hair, on their chests. The Quads worked great for many months (years?) until he force fed them a 20 Hz square wave. Two blue flashes - silence. Audio is fun, but, destruct testing gets expensive. Objectivists have their agenda, I have mine. Happy Ears! Al Andre Jute wrote: These are born-dangerous truth-telling loudspeakers of very great refinement. Worthless Wiecky learns how to include quoted text in his ****-missives. Jute did not say the words you falsely attribute to him. McCoy seldom "says" much One step at a time, even for a psychopath like you, Worthless. BTW, how do you justify collaborating with Bwian McFraudster while setting yourself up as an arbiter of morality? Aside from your obvious mental illness, of course. -- A day without Krooger is like a day without radiation poisoning. |

Exception: http://sound.westhost.com/project105.htm polarization is speced at 1.5 KV, and maximum drive is 2.5 KV RMS Other authority: http://www.geocities.com/quad_esl63/...atic/esl63.jpg Gives the power supply voltage as 5.25 KV. The turns ratio of ESL speakers is usually in the 80-100:1 range. The maximum RMS input of the ESL-63 is given by some as 10 volts RMS. This would lead to no more than about 1 KV. |
