do you have any recommendations for inexpensive new or second hand
record decks. I can afford upto £150 with cartridge. Also I would
appreciate any links for reviews/information on turntables old and
new. TIA

Hi,

I'm very happy with my PROJECT DEBUT II which is a complete out of the box solution for
less than £120. It is my first venture into vinyl so I can't comment on other makes.

An independent review http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/keith_g/debut/debut.htm

Vinyl links etc. on the main site http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/keith_g/keith_g.htm

Where I bought mine from

A marvellous machine for the money... It is my nth venture into vinyl,
and amazingly good for the price.

I have a Dunlop Systemdek + Linn Basik + P77 cart for sale. The top is a
little marked but it's a great warm sound. I'm happy to take £65.00

Are you in theUK?

Thanks for that (and thanks CJ for the links). The Project Debut
sounds impressive. Getting the Project would certainly be simpler than
looking for a good second hand deck. Still I'd like to be sure - there
are a lot of solidly built Pioneers/Dual/Thorns decks that were highly
rated in their day available, can I take it that you think it is
better to buy the Debut?

BTW how good is the Orotfon catridge it comes with?

Thanks but I've Googled Dunlop Systemdek and while it is a very good
deck it appears difficult to set up. Simple setup is probably another
advantage of the Project Debut for someone like me who isn't
techically minded. Perhaps I should think again about the suitability
of a second hand deck for me.
