mounting Garrard 35SB record deck

Hi,
I've just removed a Garrard 35DB record deck from and old music centre and
wish to make a plinth etc for it, I note that the deck was mounted on approx
1/2" plywood - is this OK or should I use MDF or chipboard. I would think
that the requirements are rigidity to maintain a level playing surface and
low vibration transmission? This is my first attempt at such a job - I'd
appreciate your advice
thanks in anticipation
Tony

The board doesn't matter so much as whether or not it is allowed to
resonate. Stick some damping pieces on here and there and plaster the
underside with:

Dedsheet

Thin carpet

Floor tile

Damp proof roll (Flashband..??)

or anything else you have to hand that will turn a 'bong' into a 'bonk'...!!
;-)
