Well, I wish you the best of luck with this, but I would have to say
that it is very late and very under-specified. I would imagine that
anyone wanting to record on a PC has something far more useful by now.

Why offer only mp3 format? Why not let the user choose whatever binary they
want to encode with (with mp3 as defualt for those who don't care)

I use audiograbber, which is free when used as a sampler. It isn't perfect
but is full featured and well known.
