I think I can see more styli and cartridges down at the nearest Guitar
Center store. Even some of the same brands.

Oh ho!

So vinyl's not even obsolete where you live then...??? :-)

I guess you haven't done your homework, and don't know what a "Guitar
Center" store is, or what market they cater to.

Can we all say "Turntablist"? ;-)

Oh I get it, your computer doesn't have any search engines, so you don't
know what that word means.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turntablist

"DJ Babu has defined a turntablist as "One who has the ability to improvise
on a phonograph turntable. One who uses the turntable in the spirit of a
musical instrument;" while the Battlesounds documentary film suggests a
definition of :"A musician, a hip-hop disc jockey who in a live/spontaneous
situation can manipulate or restructure an existing phonograph recording (in
combination with an audio mixer) to produce or express a new composition
that is unrecognisable from its original ingredients."

Sure, go ahead - knock yerself out....

I'm informed that digital alternatives are in acension in even the
turntablist market.

inspired by) the loco in the pic...??

****ing hell! I am sure my first serious cartridge ever, on a
SystemDek IIX Electronic, was a Denon DL-110. It certainly was
Denon, a high-output MC, and it was the same colour as that one
on the right, and the number "DL-110" does ring a bell.

Happy days. *

I was 18 and had just gone to uni. In 1989.

Martin

* No, not really. In the November (on the 2nd), I met a Chinese girl and we
started going out, and then she broke my ****ing heart cos she dumped me
2 days after we got together cos her "parents wouldn't approve". I was in a
state for A YEAR.

"The DJammer is the next-generation electric guitar," said Mark Smith,
an HP researcher who co-invented the device. "It's the sort of thing
where people will be able to become very creative."

I won't be holding my breath :-)

I like the idea that something can make someone "become creative".
