It says Ortofon VMS5E MKII on the cartridge... any ideas where to pick up a
replacement?

I've found Mantra Audio very helpful.

They list the VMS10E (an upgrade for the VMS5E) at £ 17.00 inc VAT

Try and get an Ortofon original replacement. I've had iffy results with
the generic copies although they are a lot cheaper, their web site
doesn't make clear if the stylus is an original. You may want to 'phone
them on 01757 288652

Looks good but I still wonder if it _really_ is made by Ortofon as it says
'colour may vary from the original' I'd be interested to hear if/when you
get it as I've got a few Ortofon cartridges.

Have I ****ed up? New to this.... First time I got the Pioneer deck out of
the cupboard since Woolies sold styli. Partner is a sound engineer and it
needs to be right.

Batteries Online returned my email within half an hour or so with a very
helpful (it seems) bit of advice, now you guys are making me question my
original elation at finding a replacement styli in these digital, no moving
parts, not user servicable times.....

Well, I got lots of albums that have all been through many parties, lots of
hands and much mauling in the dark so if it works reasonably it'll be
ok..... i quite miss a little hiss and rumble....

Absolutely! This is so clearly a generic stylus, NOT an original. I
wonder if it even has a Microridge stylus, seriously doubt t at that price.

Les would be well advised to 'phone the supplier and verify the origin.

Err, probably not. Especially at that price.
If they are the genuine Shure MicroRidge stylus for the V15 type III, I'll
take 3 at that price. :-)

You should try to visit the National Vintage Communications Fair
(Warwickshire Exhibition Centre, Sunday 29th April 2007),

or get a list of the stall holders. I'm sure they have stylii dealers
there. If you go you can see what they are selling before you part with
the money :-) .
