Advice on Low Cost System
 

I am planning to buy a low-cost hifi or home-theater system.
I will use it for music (80% ) and movies (20%).
I already have a Phillips DVD player.
I will connect to the system the DVD player (used for CD too) and an
IPOD
My budget is 400/500 Euro

I have identified some entry-level HT systems (Onikio, Yamaha or
Kenwood systems) that fit my budget.
But maybe an hi-fi would be better, for music.

Do I need 5+1 channels?
Or 2 +subwoofer are better?
HT or traditional HI-FI or HT amplified with 2+subwoofers?
Best solutions? Manufacturs?

I am not sure if my earlier post got to you or not but here it is
again anyway -

1. In the same price range of your HT you could review a Marantz which
I have noticed has better built and sound quality to the Denon, Yamaha
or Onkyo) for the same price range. If you are ready to put in a few
more bucks you should also have a listen to the Arcam, Cambridge and
Rotel.

2. Stick to a single sub woofer (active) which is equipped with Phase,
Crossover and Level controls. Once I recently reviewed was a JBL which
fits your budget and sounds quiet good for that price.

3. Spend approximately 10% on the cables. You will notice the
difference.

the difference.

Not Guaranteed. Depends on the model. My Yamaha 640 sounded better
than anything else in its class

I've got a 5.0 setup. The bass from my Mission floor standers is
(beleive me) plenty.

Nope. You probably wont. By all means replace the pieces of string
that arrive with the original kit with something more substantial, but
10%? come on.
