Yup, that's fine.

Problem is you really can't do any better than that with vinyl, so
that is kind of the end of playing (productively, that is).

Yep, pretty much as good as it gets with vinyl. Output all the way out
to 16-17kHz so not much wrong with the cartridge.

No noticeable rumble components or hum.

Enjoy it.

Sounds pretty good to me to (excellent, in fact) - you should be very
pleased with that!!

There's plenty of everything there and it seems very nicely balanced. You
would probably get a little more *spank* from an idler (drumbeats and piano
about 3/4 of the way through), but quite possibly at the cost of summat
else - that's how it goes! (No free lunch!!)

(I'd steal the deck in a heartbeat, but I wouldn't take that disc!! :-)

Thanks for posting it.

Many thanks Don - yep, it sounds pretty good in the scheme of things.
There's a noticeable 'smear' to the sound compared to the Project I
think. I'm a bit unhappy about the armboard, but otherwise I don't think
there's much to do now.

Thanks Serge - encouraging. Not that anyone noticed - but it's Brian
*Wilson* (been listening to Norah Jones!). I don't think that track was
released on CD, and no great loss.

Yep, pretty pleased. A few worrying moments during the fettle, but it's
turned out nice.

It does sound a little 'out of focus' to me, but overall very enjoyable.
I'll try it next the the JVC DD at some point.

(I'd steal the deck in a heartbeat, but I wouldn't take that disc!! :-)

Pretty lame really - it's Brian Wilson's supposed opus.

Thanks for posting it.

No probs!

:-)

There's no gain without pain!! ;-)

It does sound a little 'out of focus' to me,

'out of focus' is too harsh - tad soft is more like it, but only then in
comparison with these *stinging* idle *******s!! I'll perhaps post a snatch
of *nosebleed* piano in the near future, to illustrate what I mean!!

but overall very enjoyable.

That would be an interesting comparison.

Not on my 'wish list' I hafta say!! ;-)

Subjectively, yes it sounds good.

Technically, well good for vinyl.

Artifacts:

The lead in shows low level blips on 1 KHz intervals from 1 KHz to 5 KHz.

There is a 10 dB peak at almost precisely 12 KHz.

The tone arm resonance seems very nicely damped.

FM distortion seems relatively low.

There is only 51 dB dynamic range in the 20-20KHz band. A well-done live
recording might have 60 or 65 dB dynamic range.
