Default Line level audio auto-switch?

I'm looking for a device that has two (or more) stereo line-level audio
inputs, let's call them input-A and input-B, and one stereo line-level
output. By default the audio coming in via input-A will appear on the
output, but if there's audio present on input-B that will be passed to
the output *instead of* the audio form input-A. I'd expect there to be
a sensitivity control (so that minor noise on input-B would be ignored)
and a hang-time control (to prevent switching back to input-A when there
are small silences in the audio from input-B).

After lots of Googling all I can find is a device with the correct
functionality but at speaker levels rather than line-levels.

Does the device I'm looking for exist?

Thanks,

Mark.

** It cannot work to anyone's satisfaction.

Audio line signals are prone to have long silences all time.

My intended use is for the audio system in the lounge to be fed TV
(and associated gadgetry) audio by default but be over-ridden by audio
from the computer when there is any. There is no audio from the computer
except when I'm using iTunes to play music. I'd be satisfied with a 10
or 20 second hang-time to cover gaps between tracks.

Cheers,

Mark.

What you're asking for is often called a VOX (for Voice Operated
Switch). There's some information for a kit on

I'm sure you could modify this to do what you need.

That does look very close, thanks. It's been a while since my soldering
iron got any use, but I'm sure I could cope.

Otherwise, try Googling on Voice Operated Switch, and you'll get loads
of hits. (If you do VOX, you'll get loads on the amplifier manufacturer)

Thanks for the tip.

Cheers,

Mark.

** What you CLAIM you want is irrelevant.

The idea is simply non-practical and hence no products are being made with
that idea..

Someone appears to think that it is commercially viable at speaker-levels:

** LOL !!!!!!!

That asinine web page (which has not been updated since 2002) falls into
the exact same category as spam emails offering " penis enlargement " to
gullible ******s.

No wonder a prick like YOU thought is was hot stuff.
