Otherwise, I've been using Dayton Audio PT-2 at about 30 quid. Sounds very nice to my ears. |

There's a note from the seller at the bottom saying the auction is cancelled. Seems he forgot to tell Ebay. Or perhaps his nurse did. -- *Consciousness: That annoying time between naps. The Stage Accompany sA8535 tweeters might be worth a $grand a pair on a good day. They appear to be designed for very high power levels and very high SPLs, as the brand name suggests. They are used in some pretty expensive high end systems. |

Sounds very nice to my ears. Seems that ribbon tweeters have made it into ubiquitous consumer product. http://www.newlaunches.com/archives/...und_system.php Amazon still have a few for USD245. I bought a brand new pair of the speakers only (this is the 50W version) from the local Philips agent late last year for approx equiv. GBP45. I've only played them a few times - got them to take on a family reunion trip as passable portable hifi (paired with a Cyrus 1 & a discman;-)) and was gobsmacked at the bass depth for one thing (the Cyrus has no tone controls, and the discman had a lline-out - no "megabass" setting used) from such diminutative speakers, but the tweeter (my first ever ribbon) seems very nice too. They're still packed away, awaiting serious investigation and use ... Never got a chance to see the complete system - the speakers were extra pairs sold as clearance product; might've been less unwieldy than the Cyrus ... -- RdM |
