Half Decent MP3 player.
I'm going on a coach trip to Germany soon and am thinking of getting an MP3
player to take with me. I'm fussy about sound quality so I'm after recomendations on which players have the best sound quality. I'm not wanting to spend too much though as it might not get used again probably £100 maximum. Can anybody offer any advice or should I just stick with my old cd walkman? Gav |

Ian Yeah I realise that mp3 is obviously less than cd quality (no matter what some people would have you believe), but its a trade off between carrying a load of cds with a fairly large player to having something that easily fits in your pocket. I have mp3'd nearly all my cd collection at a high quality level and listen to them on a daily basis in the car. So I accept mp3 will never be as good as the cd but I'm willing to compromise a little for convenience, but the player can make a huge difference to the end result which is why I'm after opinions on which ones are better. For instance my Alpine head unit in the car does an outstanding job of playing my mp3s yet the same mp3s played in other players have had a kind of lifeless sound. Gav |

Sennheiser CX300s or Creative Labs own. Have a look on Amazon.co.uk And don't worry about OGG AAC or any other sort of codec advice. When you're listening on a coach it won't make any difference. Well, I have a Creative Muvo and my wife has an iRiver, and in my opinion the iRiver sounds vastly superior (even with the same headphones - the iRiver came with Sennheisers), although I prefer the user interface and styling of the Creative. We listen to Ogg Vorbis on the iRiver and WMA on the Creative, so that might account for some of the difference, but the iRiver sounds much more punchy. |

iRivier do seem to have a good reputation for sound quality, was very close to buying one myself. I've bitten the bullet now though and opted for a SanDisk E260, fingers crossed it will be a good one. Gav |
