Partner speakers for Cyrus 6?
You don't buy speakers to partner equipment (other than the obvious
question of power rating) but to partner your room. THat is the interaction that determines the sound. Buy them to partner your personal taste and get even better results. Find a price you are willing to spend, take four pairs home at that price, keep the ones you like best. |

So far I've heard the Monitor Audio S6 and B&W CM6. Not sure if the shop is steering me in the right direction (trying to avail themselves of stock items maybe). Cheers Kev You don't buy speakers to partner equipment (other than the obvious question of power rating) but to partner your room. THat is the interaction that determines the sound. Couldn't agree more. I went through 4 pairs of speakers that WhatHiFi gave 5 stars too - all of them group winners. Trouble is they all sounded too 'harsh' for my room. I woke up to the fact that my room needed a certain type of speaker to sound good but not nescesaril a group winner. I ended up with Quad 11L (group winners :-) ) that sound superb. Speakers do need to partnered with the right electronics. A transparent speaker partnered with a 'bright' amp may sound harsh. Put a 'warmer' pair on and the sound may be great. -- MrBitsy |

Otherwise we'd all be auditioning speakers with any old equipment? Kev It's like that estate-agent program on the TV. Location, location, location. Above a certain level of quality, amps and other front-end gear may sound slightly different to each other. Speakers sound enormously different. Room characteristics and speaker positioning in the room also make an enormous difference. You don't read much about it, because the hi-fi dealer can't sell you a better listening room :-) |
