That sound simply could not be achieved on vinyl. There are many, many more. I'm as rabid a supporter of CD and SS as you are of vinyl and tubes (having quite a long history of listening to both). Dynamics, resolution, pitch stability, background noise - for starters. I recall Peter Walker showing off Quad ELS63s years back with small scale choral music from a Philips CD150. I was hooked immediately and the medium has only improved since. Roy. |

I suspect a few would argue that its implementation hasn't improved much lately but perhaps if I agree with you *wholeheartedly* we might start a new trend and see charity shop vinyl drop back from the 1.99 (and up) it is now for anything in good condition to the three (or even four) for a pound it was when I used to *defend* vinyl against a small few here who thought it should be outlawed from this group...? Pauses to buy: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN:IT&ih=003 and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN:IT&ih=003 Meantime, I'm delighted you enjoy your music no matter what your preferred medium!! :-) |
