I don't understand the prices people are bidding. Do they not
realise
that most of this stuff will be abused and shagged?

I'm seeing 'current bid £200' - am I missing summat?

If that's right, that's surely not a lot of money - not that I believe
*industrial grade* necessarily cuts it in the home for *hobby* use, in
many instances....??

A lot of that gear will be on interest to Video production facilities
and the like...

ISTR that Serge has an EMT in his living room ?..

Yes and I'm overdue for a visit to go and hear it!

Hmm. Most analogue broadcast desks are replaced long before that because
the switches and pots are shagged. Of course if it uses VCAs exclusively
they may be ok.

They use linear faders Penny and Giles in the second instance, operating
VCA's and that very one is still in the P&G catalogue!..

The MBI only had one pot changed, the monitor headphone volume all the
others are fine even the Alps long throw faders and even so there're
only a few minutes to change..

And the measured performance is excellent too!..

The actual faders survive ok - it's the other pots, eq, aux etc and all
the routing switches that commonly give problems. Of course it will depend
on make and amount of use.

And the original manufacturer!...

I expect that anything with Neve writ thereon will fetch a fine old
price;!

Strangely, Neve used some of the cheapest switches around in the '70s. The
Neve in TC3 at TV Centre was deemed unsuitable for live transmissions due
to unreliability after only 3 years or so. Perhaps due to the narrow
module specified by the BBC - the standard wide type was rather better.
