A question for the panel.

I am thinking of building myself a preamp. And I think I would like to use
relay switching for the input selectors.

What recommendations do folks have about a good relay to use for this
application?

Reed relays are the modern relay of choice for low current/dry circuits.

They were in the 60s or so..

Not any more.

What gets used in studio kit?

FETs.

And relays. Sealed ones with gold plated contacts. Check out Panasonic's
DS and
NF series.

DS looks pretty cool. Potentially very useful for audio.

Plus - robust

Minuses - relatively short electrical life and slow

I used these in my preamp design,

http://www.analog.com/en/prod/0,2877,SSM2404,00.html

they are easy to use ( no i2c needed ) and didn't even cost anything as I
ordered them as samples from AD's website.
