Sheffield library has taken the plunge:

Time to dust down the record bag and see what's what.

Go for the 'eclectic' - the 'pop' stuff will be knackered!!

(And so will your needle, if you play it on your own rig!)

Hardly any pop/rock there - mainly classical and folk. Prices for pop
were silly - £25 for a MFP Beatles (etc). I did ask about the
imaginative pricing policy, and she had no idea, and so when I asked
what happens to them when they didn't sell, they'll be 'cheaper' next
week. I got some very nice folk records, original Trojan. Superb
condition, even though the borrowing stamps date back 30 years.

And quite sad in a way - a lot of the folk records appear to have come
from a time when Sheffield sort of stood for something. Mind you, Newham
LB flogged off anything of any political hue a very long time ago.

Ha :-) My poor carts have to plough through all sorts of debris. I was
just amazed that the old AT OC9 came out unscathed after 10 years.

I didn't mean that sort of 'pop', you dozy Doctor - I meant stuff like
'The Four Seasons'; the '1812'; 'Finlandia'; 'Bolero'; 'The Planets';
'Death In Venice'; 'Elvira Madigan'; 'Hovis' &c....

:-)

Oh yes, I love *inexpensive* carts (veterans and cheepies) - they seem
to survive anything and sound utterly superb anyway!! (Killed too many
MCs to ever invest a lot of money in another one!)

I don't know, you aficionados :-) I didn't notice that type of stuff,
although there was quite a bit of bustling going on in the classical
section - and some very hefty prices - £25+

If these pricey carts couldn't hack my abuse I wouldn't bother. Mind
you, the prices aren't *that* bad - I just got a consignment from LP Gear:

http://www.lpgear.com/

Worked out about half UK prices after tax. In fact I got my original OC9
from them in the late 90s - phoned them up and paid by credit card on
that occasion.
