Headphone Extension Lead (approx 2m)

I am looking for an good (3.5mm jack to socket) extension lead for my
headphones. All I have come up with so far is the cheapo couple of quid
ones or this Belkin one.

http://catalog.belkin.com/PureAV_det...duct_Id=172258

But after reading a few reviews on it people seem to be saying its not up
to much. Can anybody help me out, where can I find a fairly decent
extension lead? Gold plated connectors, OFC and 2m long is all I ask. :o)

thanks

Gav

If a cheapo extension cable isn't good enough then you need one of these:

A *REVIEW* on a POXY 3.5mm jack lead ? 'Not up to much' in what respect. Is
it not wire ?

LMFAO !

OFC is irrelevant. So is the gold quite frankly in the context of miserable
3.5mm jacks. Gold looks pretty though which may be important to you.

Any headphone extension lead will work pretty much as well as any other one.

The biggest problem comes from the lousy 3.5mm jacks which tend to be
intermittent. Some sockets may be better in this respect, having stronger
contact pressure and larger contact area. Don't expect to see that specified
anywhere though.

It's got a lifetime warranty - so what more could you want?

Ah - you're one of those who think cables have a 'sound'? Well, driving
headphones where the power is tiny and the impedances low but not very low
is about the easiest spec for any cable. The only real query is the
quality of the socket as these often give trouble through wear. But keep
the receipt and that lifetime warranty should cover that.

thanks

It's "not up to much" because for the money people have (over) paid, the
feeling is that there is not much product!

What probably is more important than gold coloured electricals, is the
quality of the plastic used in making the whole assembly sturdy and less
likely to fall apart and short out your source electronics. You can tell
that by visiting a shop and fondling the ends...

You should be able to find a decent lead for a fiver.

Does any "good" headphone have a 3.5mm plug?

My Beyer DT331s are fitted with one but did of course come with an adaptor.

A few minutes' work with the soldering iron and you can create all the
extension lead you want.

Yep think that's what I'll do, been looking at CPC and Maplin this aft.

Handy tip: put the plug / socket cover on the cable *before* soldering
:-)

Ha Ha. Yep been there many a time. Does not seem to matter how many times
you've done this kind of thing its still easy to get carried away with
the soldering and find you've forgot to put the cover on first.
