Copying MP3 file to 2 CDs
I have an MP3 file of 57Mb (a radio programme in which I took part)
and I want to put it on to a CD that I can play on a domestic player. I normally use Nero for this but the file is so big that it will need at least 2CDs when it is converted to .cda format. Please anyone, how can I arrange it so that the programme will span over several CDs asking me to put in a new CD when one is full? -- Alasdair. |

Have you tried it? mp3 at 128Kb normally takes around 1.1Mb/min, so 57Mb would suggest around 52 minutes. That will go on one CD easily. -- Woody harrogate three at ntlworld dot com |

It's not the size of the file that matters, but the running time of the recording. Since a standard CDR will hold 80 minutes of audio it would be an exceptional radio programme that needed more than one CD. If you really do need to spread it over two CDs then you need an audio editor. There is one included as part of the Nero suite (Nero WaveEditor), though I normally use Cool Edit. Use the editor to cut the programme into two, and save each part as a .wav file. Then use Nero "Burning Rom" to burn each to a separate CD. Or, better still, use the editor to cut out the irrelevant bits from the programme so that it will all fit onto one CD. David. |

There's a free audio editor, Audacity, you can load your mp3, you can select or cut a part, which you can save as wav, doo notice, that sample rate must be 44.1 KHz and 16 bit for the cd standard, if needed, you can resample this too with Audacity. -- The Fug. I find it simpler than Audacity, and it has some of the features of "real/reel" tape editing - you can jog forward / backwards in real time listening for the splice point. -- Adrian C |
