soundcard help

Hi everyone,

I'm building a new pc and would appreciate your views on soundcards.

I'm looking for something that can give my hy-fi a decent input , so looking
for a stereo analog output (maybe s/pdif too).
Don't care about inputs to the PC. PCI - not USB.

must be about as good as it gets for a soundcard - fed up with crap audio
out of the pc (!)

thx

Why not USB?

If you *really* want the best possible stereo audio, then forget about
analogue outputs from PCI cards. Use SPDIF and an external DAC; the little
£17 USB connected "soundcard" from Maplin offers an SPDIF output and works
as well as anything.

David.

How about a USB DAC? I love mine.
