All this palaver and whining about 'OT' means I won't bother to mention the
following - simply because of the sheepish lack of response from anyone here
other than the *omnipresent* Net Nazis who would squeal like stuck pigs but
who will also significantly fail to fill the void with anything other than
possibly a little self-approved blogging of their own (new webpages, wiring
the neighbour's pigeon loft kinda thing):

1) Selling a Toyota MR2 for 60 quid yesterday and learning summat
interesting about the 'car scrappage scheme' from the *inside*!

2) Squandering my 'Winter Fuel Payment' on a new 1080p DLP projector and now
stuck by the door waiting for Amazon!

3) Deciding to clear out stuff I'll not use again, starting with a
'laboratory power supply' (0~30VDC, I believe - without looking).

4) And clearing out stuff like tons of ceramic valve bases (all the usual
sizes including UX4s)....

5) Mentioning also that now I'll probably be getting rid of my superb,
almost brand-new 720p DLP projector on eBay....??

6) Bitching about the news on Classic FM coming on at any number of minutes
*before* or *after* the hour these days!

I *know* - that'll be:

1) Hook up uk.rec.car.****s then?

2) Hook up uk.rec.sheds.squandering.the.wfp.on.toys ?

3) Hook up uk.rec.electronics.marketplace.total.strangers?

4) Hook up alt.rec.tubes.halfway.round.the.sodding.world then?

5) Hook up uk.rec.av.markeplace.skint.time.wasters...??

6) Hook up uk.rec.pointlessly.bitching.about.the.wireless ??

See above - I'm stuck here waiting for Amazon (sound's like a new West End
play) probably all of today and tomorrow 'til 1 o' clock and so will be
watching for the usual torrent of fascinating techno****tery from the
*hundreds* of amusing and entertaining regulars here!!

Then get someone to show you how to add newsgroups. You obviously don't
understand your newsreader given your spouting about the killfile.
There are over 30,000 covering all sorts. So even you should find
something of interest to read.

But having a whinge is your democratic right. Don't it make you feel better?
PS some valve bases are very expensive these days, so don't chuck them in
the rubbish, sell em.

I don't whinge, Brian - I leave that to others here.

That post was multipurpose:

A little *constructive trolling* to possibly spark off an interesting
thread...??? (Cars were always popular bak in the Good Old Days - I remember
how we all thrilled to some mention about Pucci's Riley...?? ;-)

Have a happy little brag about my new PJ (arrived 09:10 this morning :-) and
drop the hint I might be thinking of selling my existing one. (Actually had
a direct email on this one!)

Mention I will be clearing stuff out (I will be ordering another skip in the
next week or so) and stuff I no longer use/need like the power supply will
be going out:

http://www.moirac.adsl24.co.uk/shown...owerSupply.jpg

....it's covered in crap but it works fine AFAIK and FOC to someone
collecting; also the unused spray gun behind it in the pic - stuff like
that.

And, of course, take the **** out of the ludicrous suggestion to hook up to
numerous ****ing silly newsgroups and remain religiously *on topic* in each
one - like *any* of the newsgroups I've looked into (photography,
motorcycles, 'humor') ever do and like the person who suggested it always
does - when it suits him not to!

(It's called *hypocrisy*..!! ;-)

PS some valve bases are very expensive these days, so don't chuck them in
the rubbish, sell em.

Of course, but they're not actually taking up too much space!

@-)

(Oops! - Me syrup's fallen over me eyes....!!)

Or is it a turban?

OT, OT, OT...

The glaring self-contradiction involved in saying you won't mention
something and then explicitly mentioning it, is probably obvious to
everybody but Kitty. ;-)

Are you really that stupid, Arny?

We call it taking the **** here in the UK or sometimes 'taking the mickey'
(micturition):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taking_the_****

What the Wiki doesn't suggest is that it is also said to originate from
sailors (or prison inmates or whatever) telling someone taking a Roll Call
that someone's away on such an errand to cover up for their unauthorised
absence. (Late back on board, in the barracks &c.)

Now, how much more OT would you like?

Shall I go on...??

Sorry, that ain't too clear is it - the 'taking the ****' errand I refer to
is that of taking out the 'night bucket' for emptying!

Apparently, allegedly....

(I ain't done myself, like - honest...!! ;-)
