My local Lidl has Yamaha dynamic mics with desk stand and pop shield -
described as being for vocals - for approx 30 quid. I'd say that worth a
punt.

Thanks, I'll take a look, though IIRC ours had a load of instruments and
stuff a month or two back so maybe I've missed it here.

Think it was the same here - just left over from then. They looked to have
about a dozen. Clapham Junction branch.
