Vinyl wanted Urgent
I know a few people here have fine collections
of LPs so hopefully some one will be able to help me out. I am looking for LPs by Arturo Motta, a Latin American band leader from the 1950s. If anyone here has any vinyl by this orchestra, I would very much like to borrow/rent it for transcription. TIA Iain |

Many thanks:) But, "Chicaboums" ??? I think Motta translates as Smith. Do you think he was "Arfur Mott" to his Mum, or Smiffy to his school mates? It wouldn't be the first time. Roberto Inglez, the famous Brazilian/Chilean band leader was actually Robert Ingles from Elgin, Scotland. Iain |

Do you think he was "Arfur Mott" to his Mum, or Smiffy to his school mates? Probably 'Binky' or 'Binkus' to his mum and 'That ****** Motty' to his school chums....??? It wouldn't be the first time. Roberto Inglez, the famous Brazilian/Chilean band leader was actually Robert Ingles from Elgin, Scotland. The best example of that sort of thing is the inimitable and *wicked good* Dorita Y Pepe who came from somewhere like Tottenham but were so good they played to vast audiences in Brasil or Argentina (maybe both): http://www.frootsmag.com/content/fea...ry/page02.html I might have a Motta or I might only have a track on a compilation disc and I know I've got a Mottola which which be a small version, but I *defnitely* have a Dorita Y Pepe - say the word and I'll post a track!! :-) (All good *natural sounding*, valvey pre-digital stuff - I can't get enough of it, me! :-) |

Peter Sensier (Pepe) died in 1978" From he http://web.ukonline.co.uk/suttonelms/the-cast2.html And, incredibly, see this: "A visual impression of Argentina, inspired by the country's folk music and the return visit of Argentina's musical ambassadors, Dorita y Pepe." "Brian Gaff" wrote in message m... Not to mention charity shops, so I won't. I have heard of this person, but its probably not my scene, unless its on a sampler somewhere. I definitely know the name from somewhere.. grr. Brian Charity shops are a pretty long shot for an artists not well-known in the UK, and even less so here in Scandinavia. Probably not my "scene" either, Brian. I don't know. But I try to approach every project with professional enthusiasm:-) When I get the LP I will post a snippet. Cheers Iain -- Brian Gaff - Note:- In order to reduce spam, any email without 'Brian Gaff' in the display name may be lost. Blind user, so no pictures please! "Keith G" wrote in message ...
