Tamdberg reel tape repairs, etc.
Can anyone suggest a UK company who do decent quality repairs (or supply
parts) on Tandberg recorders? I'm currently using my old 3041X to transfer ancient recordings to digital and it is struggling! So far it has worked amazingly well for such an old machine. If my luck holds I may be able to transfer all the items I really want, but I suspect it may pine for fjords before I finish all the old tapes. The problems are the usual suspects like no-longer-very-rubbery pinch wheel, low belt traction, and crimbled clutch pads. (The record electronics is also now popcorn noisy. But fortunately the replay side has been OK so far.) I do also have a 3341X. But that seems to have already had a failure of something like a drive belt. (And to complete the admissions I also have an even older mono deck and a TP41 portable radio. :-) ) I did do a search. But almost all the pages I found were either data drives, or USA. The only exception was prpe.co.uk. Whose website didn't tell me much, and I know zero about them! Slainte, Jim -- Please use the address on the audiomisc page if you wish to email me. I don't know if he will be able to do this, but the first person I'd ask is Adrian Tuddenham, who's usually found posting to uk.comp.sys.mac. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10171206 http://cadensa.bl.uk/uhtbin/cgisirsi...CKEY6010012&li brary=ALL (I'm sure this was reported on the BBC at the time, but I can't find it) Daniele |
