Painting tweeter faceplate
I have pair of these speakers (ATC SCM40):
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATC-SCM-40...-/141312839532 Is painting the tweeter plate quite easy? The dome seems to be fixed to the plate in some way, and I can't see how to get a neat finish (as in this pair - the photo shows it well). How is the bass unit fixed to the baffle? I'd guess 'from behind', but if so, how does the baffle come off? -- Cheers, Rob |

Erm, why do you want to paint it?
I know I'm going to regret asking. Brian -- From the Sofa of Brian Gaff Reply address is active "RJH" wrote in message ... Oh, I learned a long time ago, that original condition means a higher resale
value than I painted it matt black as silver was tacky. Can it be totally removed so no spray dust can get into the drive unit? What is it made of? The ebay speakers I linked to start at more than list price - and that's modified. Best of luck with that! I don't think the dome can be removed, and the faceplates look to be aluminium. Please excuse my insensitivity, pics here, showing the painted and originals: https://flic.kr/s/aHsjYRWp1Z The pictures show a pretty much perfect coat of paint right up to the fabric looking dome. Also, what look to be security torx bolts on mine. Joy. -- Cheers, Rob |

On many, the unit itself is bolted to the faceplate to allow different shapes to be used - but obviously not in this case. Have you Googled to see if this tweeter has a replaceable voice coil? You might find instructions for stripping it down if it has. -- *When cheese gets its picture taken, what does it say? * Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |
