Default high quality USB audio ADCs

Just to let people know I've now put up results of my tests on two high
quality (and expensive!) USB ADCs. They are the Benchmark ADC1 and the
NuWave Phono Convertor. Both work fine with Linux and RISC OS. You can find
the page at

http://www.audiomisc.co.uk/HFN/ADC/HighQualityADCs.html

I ended up buying the ADC1 I was sent to test! :-)

At around 1500 quid, it should be good. ;-)

It is. :-) I particularly like the really good input sensitivity controls.
mulltistep pots, range switches, and a calibrated setting you can adjust
with a watchmaker's screwdriver via recessed multiturn post. Good way to
set levels accurately and then *not* have the altered by mistake.

TBH I bought it partly for making good audio digital copies from old
analogue material. But also partly for use as an audio measurement signal
capture device. Need low noise, distortion, etc, when gathering data on
something else.

One of the tests I've been doing is to use the ADC symultaenously with a
decent audio DAC to make a laptop into a good test workstation for
examining audio kit. The challenge is to get the DAC and ADC to be better
than whatever you want to measure!
