unknown speakers, worth a gamble?
I was looking around various sites for some relatively cheap speakers for
my bedroom that do not sound like cardboard boxes, and are not of the younguns megabase as used by DJ Plonker etc, and the name Beng came up. It only seems to have outlets via Amazon, and the reviews on there should I feel be taken with a pinch of salt. they say the packaging was rubbish resulting in damaged cabinets and that the terminals were pretty cheap but the sound was surprisingly good for under 100 quids. Anyone heard of them, sounds made up name to me. Brian -- ----- - This newsgroup posting comes to you directly from... The Sofa of Brian Gaff... Blind user, so no pictures please! |

It's an odd spec. A 6 1/2" bass unit, two 4" midrange and a 4" tweeter. Almost like 'I have these speakers laying around and will use them' ;-) -- *You can't teach an old mouse new clicks * Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

I have a pair on top of the cupboard about 5ft away from me as I type, and of all of the speakers that I have - and I have a few(!) - they would probably be the lasr small ones I would part with. Main drive unit is 8inch so they will shift air with relatively little power. Also look at Wharfedale Diamonds or 30.2's, Tannoy M1, or any small Mission or KEF. There's plenty around and you should be able to get a pair for less than £50. -- Woody harrogate3 at ntlworld dot com |

There are four pairs on Ebay right now for under £40. They are by quite a long way my favourite small speaker. d --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus |

My daughter has them now and I would not disagree with the comment for a second. Mind you I like KEFs anyway - my main speakers are a pair of Q55's. -- Woody harrogate3 at ntlworld dot com |
