I have almost cured this using a high quality powered 7 way usb hub. Very
chunky psu and hub is made from very solid alluminium.
Now the remainder of the issue seems to be earthing and position of cables
related.
Thus most of this crud was coming up the supply line obviously, the
culpriit seems also to be the SSD made by Samsung in the computer.

Buy yourself a few ferrite rings - Radiospares have them - and wind a
few turns of each cable, including mains, through them. That should
mop up the stray RF that is obviously plaguing the system.

The funny thing is that in order to get a hub that was really isolated in
the volts department it cost a quid more than the sound box did, but then it
has got 7 ports and is thus a lot more useful and the ports are rugged,
unlike those that seem to get fitted to motherboards these days.
