Default What happened to Jimmy Hughes?

Jimmy Hughes still writes for Hi Fi magazines and still has some unusual
recommendations on how to change the sound of your hi-fi. He works as he
always has in a Camera shop as writing for hi-Fi mags does not pay the
bills. As a member of Nag-Fi we see him a couple of times a year when he
usually brings along the latest gizmo he has been asked to review. The
tweaks you mention are early Peter Belt suggestions and as can be seen from
a recent thread he continues to be a controversial as ever. Cheap and
cheerful tweaks can be great even if they are all in the mind and are
usually reversible. Why are these things becoming so expensive ?

Whatever happened to all the old hi-fi "tweeks" involving knots in
interconnects, removing every 3rd screw from a case, putting your watch on
upside-down etc. which were all supposed to bring audio nirvana that bit
closer.
Bes demo Ive seen recently was from Nordost selling Cd anti-stat and

Pulsar
Points using some Primare kit. The results were absolutely convincing -
but, funnily enough, not repeatable at home. (yes- I did buy some pulsar
points, only the alu ones, not titanium - maybe that's what's

missing.....)
Brilliant bit of show though - keep up the good work
