Default Amp and speakers for a PC

Leave the PC out of the kitchen, put a TV of some sort in there (TFT in a
kitchen cupboard door is a cool trick) and get a Hauppauge MVP. Either use
the TV audio or something like a creative 2.1 speaker set or similar (about
30 quid).

Then you have a nice user interface, network audio / video, all for about 90
quid for the MVP - in fact put one in every room...
