I am an elderly and totally non technical individual, and recently, but

I am roughly in the same boat as Peter, looking for somebody who
is willing to pop round and help sort out my system for a few
pounds and a pint (Fullers or Youngs??).
Basically, I acquired a Bang & Olufsen sound system at our local
Jumble Sale - a Beocenter 2200 {Radio/Cassette/Record Deck} and
a Beogram CDX2 {CD Player} for £50 the pair plus a pair of
Amstrad Speakers thrown in for good measure. The Beocenter &
Beogram are over 20 years old, and have applied on the Beoworld
web site for the Manuals.
Beocenter-wise, the Cassette player needs a new belt, and at some
stage I will have to have a new one fitted (not important at the
moment) plus having the stylus re-tipped. The Radio & Record
Deck work fine - The Beogram works fine as well when connected
to the Beocenter.
In order to "flaunt" the system a little, I have also recently bought a
pair of Beovox Loudspeakers (The X25's - not very "State of the
Art", but good enough as a temporary measure). Having found
some wall brackets for them and mounted them on the wall, I am
suddenly experiencing problems.
With both L & R speakers, the Radio part is fine (connected to L &
R Speaker Outlets 1) - the L speaker goes silent (apart from a hiss)
when I try the Record Deck - and also when using the Beogram CD
Player.
Have tied various combinations (4 speaker sockets - L & R 1 and L
& R 2) - to get sound from both speakers, I have to connect 1
speaker to R1, and the other (L speaker) to R2.....
Can't understand why the Radio part worked OK when connected
to Speaker Outlet 1 L & R, but not anything else.
The Amstrads seemed to work fine, but are too heavy to be wall-
mounted. Cat problems......
Any help offered would be gratefully received from somebody very
rapidly approaching Peter's pensionable age.

PS - also am looking for some spare parts for a Revox B77 reel-reel
tape recorder (got for a snip at a previous Jumble sale...)
{Maybe I should curb my enthusiasm for acquiring "toys" which do
not completely work fully and go for more modern stuff from
Dixons or Comet instead ?? } - Or am I just an unreconstructed
Magpie ??
