Denon AVR1803 Problems
Hello,
My Denon AVR1803 recently died and I was wondering if anyone might be able
to suggest what may have failed. The symptoms are as follows:
* No sound produced via any of the speaker outputs (I haven't checked the
surround back channel, but would assume it is the same.)
* No sound produced by the headphone output.
* The pink noise test tone generated by the amp produces the same result.
* Clicks and buzzes can be heard through the speakers during any loud
passage input via a digital input, but not via analogue.
* Digital sound is passed through to the recording outputs, but not
analogue.
* Video is passed through to the recording, and monitor outputs
successfully.
* Software all appears perfectly happy, i.e. detects Dolby digital and DTS
quite happily
* Very briefly outputted the correct sound to one channel, FR, but very much
quieter, (~40dB). Not been able to reproduce this.
I assume that something has failed during the output stages, but it does
seems quite strange that all the channels have broken simultaneously, yet
that some sound does still make it though.
I believe it is still within warranty, the reseller quoted a 1yr warranty
which has expired, although Denon themselves quote 2yrs, which it is within.
I haven't been able to speak to the reseller yet, but intend to do so
tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to get it repaired at a local denon
approved repair place under their warranty. Can anyone recommend somewhere
with the vicinity of Cambridge town centre?
Any comments or advice on what may have failed, and on how to proceed would
be very much appreciated.
