There's a place for every useful type of device in electronics, and the
valve
has its uses too. For instance, a valve output stage to a DAC can be
mighty
fine. In my case my DAC valve output stage is in a diffrent universe of
quality
from the DAC stage of the Pioneer CD player it runs off. But as you say -
roomfulls of valves switching on and off, no thanks!

If it sounds noticeably different from the output of the Pioneer, then
it's basically *broken*. That's *if* it really does sound different...


Your faith in the infalliability and uniformity of the solid state
processing of digital data is really rather touching....
