There are two cords involved in a Stax headphone - the actual phone
cord and the RCA phono cord. If you extend the phone cord, a) it is
expensive, b) you increase the capacitive loading and compromise top
end and c) you can't reach the volume control any more.

Extend the RCA cord and you fix all of the above.

The extension lead I was taking about is the one between the SM-313
driver unit and the headphones - and the one I would wish to extend.

Extending the phono input lead to the driver unit would not be very
helpful; carrying around a heavy and bulky box with attached audio and
mains leads would not be very convenient! I estimate that it would be
about as bulky as 30 i-Pods.

With an extension lead I could go into my bathroom and kitchen without
having to stop listening. (I can pause CDs, etc., but live radio
concerts are a bit more of a problem.)

Does anyone know if the plug and socket used by Stax is a custom part
or if it can be obtained from other suppliers?
