I would personally in your position check out the Canton CD1's they are
much better than the Kef's; they provide greater depth and detail as well
and only a little bit bigger. They are full range input units ie no external
filters so you can keep the sub.
and hopefully the misses happy.
Im probably going to get flamed for this (not suggesting walls of speakers
everywhere, stick to your guns old chap etc, etc...) But I found the
compromise 5 small sliver units on the wall that plays classical, rock, and
movies well, liveable. - only downside the sub could be a lot better.
