Soon after I turned 40 the eyesight started to go. Now, since turning
50
I
have noteiced that one ear has better HF response than the other. Today
I
was calibrating the replay side of a tape recorder using a test tape. I
could hear the 10KHz tone but when the 12.5KHz tone came up I couldn't
hear
a thing! Me ears are shot to pieces.

OK, that's not funny and not a thing I'd take the **** about (I'm
57......
;-),

Didn't mean to sound like I was taking the ****, more like ****ed of
actually (and I'm 54)

No, I meant that *I* wouldn't take the **** out of summat like that...

(Wouldn't fekkin' dare at my age with all the shooting I've done in the
past - that one comes up and bites you in arse, believe me...)

but you might be interested to know that my next door neighbour came
in once to hear a 'valve amp' and he said he thought it was very 'clear'
and liked it. He's in his 60's and *stone deaf* in one ear with the other
one on its way, apparently....???

My neighbour is a country singer/songwriter and I do all his mixing and
mastering for him. He worked in a large engineering workshop in the 60s
and his hearing has suffered as a result. He does rough mixes on a
cassette recorder which end up with so much hiss I can hardly hear the
music. He can't hear the hiss poor chap.

Yep, we live in a Pussy World these days, but I reckon I might have worn ear
defenders at certain times in the past.....

(Touch wood, as I said before - I'm the one who hears the phone when we're
outdoors....)
