The amusing thing is that one or two of us have

got!! :-)

Now would be a very good time to walk away from that argument,
Garratt.

Anyway, I think I'm about done with the clown and it would be good (but not
*vital*....) to know that one or two others have also finally got fed up
with his never-ending bull****.

Unfortunately, you'll find that rational folks understand that the
bull**** comes from a quite different origin..............

The very idea that valves and vinyl have no
place in an 'audio' newsgroup simply beggars belief. The suggestion that
anyone in the UK who enjoys/uses either or both should **** off to a
predominently US-centric group to discuss valves is the kind of towering
arrogance that, frankly, saddens me to see go unchallenged here for so much
of the time.

Why would it *not* go unchallenged? And what is 'US-centric' about
amplifier design? Don't you guys all bow down before Western Electric
toobs?

Best of all is that the suggestion that valve (and/or vinyl)
users perform some public Act Of Contrition and 'admit their heresy' and all
will be forgiven and they will be 'permitted' to discuss either topic if the
'follow the rules'!!! Fekkin' priceless!!!

If you wouldn't keep trying to pretend that valves somehow retain
something that is lost with SS, that would be a start.

Every hobbyist group or organisation has got a **** like Pinky - when I got
into pistol shooting a few years ago, there was a dip**** called 'Prof' (wot
else?) who could yap anyone off the table with his 'knowledge' - muzzle
velocities, trajectories, terminal velocities, muzzle energy, terminal
energy, copper units of pressure, bullet weights, etc. etc. Guess what? -
He wouldn't have been able to hit the side of a barn if he was standing
inside it! (I don't know how many times I have been reminded of that ****!)

Actually, the best pistol shot I ever met was a surgeon in Tucson,
Arizona. He favoured the Colt 1911, and the club had a target on the
wall which he had shot. At 25 yards, he had clipped out a perfect 6"
circle with a .45 ACP deckled edge! Interesting guy, always shot in
bare feet for better stability. I always wondered if he'd shout "halt"
to a real opponent, while he took off his shoes...............

There are 3 things mentioned in the Charter for this group as 'off limits':

Measurements vs. 'listening' arguments.

Valves vs. solid state arguments.

Analogue vs. 'digital' arguments.

Guess who's got nothing else in his 'armoury'....??

That would be you, would it not? I always use listening tests as the
final arbiter of excellence, I always acknowledge that there are a few
excellent valve amps around, and I like the sound of analogue
artifacts, while understanding that they *are* artifacts. Got any
*real* arguments to offer, just this once?

Guess who *never* makes an original/interesting statement or posts anything
other than 'replies'....??

Need I say more?

How about something with some substance?
