And that's what it went for £7.99

Mixed feelings about the price of such items. I have been engaging in
collecting reference manuals, circuit diagrams, etc, for historic and
support reasons. i.e. to ensure the info is available in the future when
people want it. Hence I'm pleased to see documents have a value as it will
encourage people to preserve them. However I'd not like to see them become
'collectables' as they'd then rise to silly prices that might make it
harder for anyone who wants to restore/fix/use older equipment from
getting the info they may require.

Slainte,

Jim

I know what you mean. I was brought up on valves and (reel to reel) tape
recorders and they have always been fascinating to me, not merely as
objects but a tools for capturing sound. I still have quite a few today. S
to prices, there does seems to be quite a fluctuation and if you pick with
care there are still bargains to be had. Some items still attract silly
prices for (apparent) rarity value, perhaps the most well known example
being Reslo ribbon microphones. You only have to mention 'Beatles' in your
eBay ad for one and you can pretty much count on £100 for it. I managed to
get a Ferrograph Series 5, with hardback instruction manual, original Reslo
mic and Ferrograph mic transformer for £35.

Some manufactureres seem to be cooperating by making pdf versions of old
product manuals available online.

Is there anything in particular you are looking for?

Ian
