Dynavox VR70-E again, again!
Sorry, for some reason Im not able to reply to the messages so I'll
have to strat a new thread. My hat goes off to Iain & Mike your
knowledge is something else and Im learning loads here!
Ive not printed off the Mullard pdf as Ive got a similar one from
Svetlana (although much shorter) but the basics are the same. At the
minute Ive settled on 35mV, as applying the 70% rule seems to point at
this figure, although getting the exact voltage is the only real way.
Anyway, with Iains calcs it all means that the tubes are running at 14
watts so Ive a question on this. The amp is quoted at 40 watts per
channel, I presume that this is at full bias and seriously loading the
tubes. How does the relate to a SS amp? is a quoted 50 Watt SS
running at this or does it have a bias??
Anyway, the amp is sounding superb, the svets & mulls are running in
nicely and with my simple AE Evo 3's I can honestly say in the 5 years
Ive been into hi-fi Im happy, and its cost me little cash! Funny thing
is, as Im of a time after valves my mates, who have never seen them
before, think theyre something new as it sounds so much better than
anything Ive had before!! I dont like to tell 'em the truth ;-).
On the tweek front, Ive no plans for the minute exept put a 10Ohm
resister in line with the led as its too bloody bright and Im too much
of a tart to be happy with black leccy tape over it!!
