I'm trying to divide a very large mp3 dance mix (which lasts 100 mins

Problem
is, the PDF Help File is like a flamin' encyclopedia and I'm struggling
to
extract the precise instructions from it for what I need to do. Can
anyone be kind enough by offering some help with a simple idiot's guide
step-by-step set of instructions to enable me to achieve the split of the
mp3
file?
Thanx in advance!

You're not alone - I have to relearn it every time, hardly intuitive. Is
there any better software for just this job?

I have done something which I think is similar to what you describe
in Cool Edit Pro 2.0. I had a two-hour lecture in mp3 which had to
be split into four sections.
In CEP proceed as follows:
Load the mp3 into the sequencer, and save it as an mp3 file called
"Complete" Then highlight the first section, and from the Edit menu
select Copy to New. A new window will open, and the section of the
sequence will be pasted there. Now save this as Part.1 in mp3 file
format. Go back to the "Complete" window and highlight the second
section. Copy to New and save this as Part.2 as an mp3 file.
Continue until you get to the end, and you will have a complete file,
and a number of smaller files Part.1 to Part.xx
Hope this helps

Thanks Iain. I remember using CEP and found it a faff similar to SF.
Anyways, just looked at ST again and it's not too tricky:
1) Place a marker at the point you want the track to start (shortcut:
M), continue M-ing at all the split points;
2)Click Special, Regions list, Markers to Regions (this'll show you the
list of 'tracks' - you can check you've done it correctly at this point);
3) Tools, extract regions.
It's done, *but* they're extracted as wavs. So you have to convert them
back to MP3s (using the original bitrate or lower - there's no point
upping it) - you can do that in Soundforge or something more elegant
like dbpower.
