Are you sure? On my now retired Ditton 25s (1978 vintage) it was the
foam which padded out the fabric grille (i.e. between the fabric and the
cut-out board with the velcro pads) which disintegrated into brownish
fragments and dust. It looked very much like the fragments and residues
in your photos. Even at 25 years old the driver cones were in visually
pristine condition.

I'll have a closer look. There was one piece of foam circular in shape which
fell down when I removed the front cover. It just appeared to me as though
the driver had this foam on the actual driver itself!!
