A question for the experts he can a particular piece of music make a
speaker misbehave? Make a sub sound like there's something loose inside?
There is a track (track 2 of Cafe Del Mar Quattro) which makes my sub
rattle. I've never noticed anything but good sound with any other track. It
is an MP3, but converted at 256 kbps from the CD. My main speakers are
Tannoy Revolution 2s, and the sub is a REL Q150.
I've had a look at the track graphically in Cool Edit 2000, and I can't see
any 'clipping' (if I understand that phenomenon correctly, that is, the
sound wave doesn't extend to the upper and lower limit lines during the
relevant passage).
Is my REL on it's way out? It's only 3 years old.

It sounds like your sub HAS got something loose inside. If this
problem was from the signal, the rattling noise wouldn't come from the
sub, but the main speakers. Probably not the end of the world though -
open it up and have a look - a loose screw is favourite.
