Any review of Arcam Solo?

We wanted a really good looking single unit that would be as good as
comparable hi-fi separates and I promise you it is. Frankly it's
sonic
performance is better than most separates systems we've come across
and has exceeded even our expectations. We also believe it is by far
the best performing all-in-one out there.
You'll have to buy the current issue of What Hi-Fi? to see what they
thought of it - copyright restrictions mean we can't e-mail or post
the full copy - sorry.
There was a healthy internal debate about whether or not to have a
volume knob - in the end not having one has not proved to be a
handicap as far as we can tell from the reaction so far and, in any
case, most people will use the remote handset most of the time. The
display does of course tell you what the volume setting is.
Solo has started shipping in the UK today and most Arcam dealers
should have them by the Easter weekend. There are a lot presold
though
so there may be a short waiting list.
HTH.

I've often thought about the fact that (power supply issues apart) that
integrated units should fare v. well as the connections between
components are no longer such a variable (quality of cables and
connection points). Signal paths are much smaller with better
connections and 'should' be capable of sounding better. Never seen or
heard it in practice before.
So when are you going to produce a DVD-A/SACD 5.1 version? (hint hint)
I could be 'seriously' interested in that.
