Got dragged over to the town this afternoon (Spending Central) and wandered
into the audio shop where my mate Shiny Nigel works. (As you do.... :-)

I'm having a bit of fun with a Roberts portable wired straight into a pair
of monos atm...

.....and would have dropped a few spons on one of the leather clad Roberts
DAB/FM portables that they stock, if I had seen summat knocked off the
price. (Still like getting a half-crown out of a Scotsman's hand without a
spanner, even after the thousands I've spent with them!!)

M*** the owner was there and we chatted. I said 'You've got nowt in!'
(meaning interesting p/x), he said 'Ooh no, we eBay all that stuff now!' (A
lie - they haven't had anything decent in for a *long* time, Nigel says that
everybody's eBaying the stuff instead!) I acted dumb and he went on 'We get
more for it!'!!

As this shop had eBayed a Thorens TD124 MkII out from under my feet last
year (or the year before) and a Technics SP10 setup out from under my mate
(AN Pre) Pat's feet at the same time I said 'Ah well, it cuts both ways. You
put me up against the rest of the world then, so I do the same to you - I
only buy on the Internet/eBay now and I am waiting on 5 things right now!!
(I am!)

All very pleasant banter, but the look on his face of 'a bulldog licking
**** off a nettle' told me I had struck home!! :-)

What I didn't tell him was that being chained to the bloody front door when
you are waiting for deliveries or having to sign for post at 7:30 in the
morning, when I didn't get to bed before 3:30, is a royal PITA....!!!
